Yes, we still do business as IRescueBees, But it was time to step things up. Prices of everything keep going up, meaning we can’t remove bees for free.
Your donations will help us in helping the elderly and disabled in crisis get their bees rescued. Please donate or hire us today!
There was a huge impact on the world’s economy from the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus spread to 190 countries and shut down a number of businesses.
These shut downs disrupted supply chains globally causing shortages in the import and export of honey, resulting in higher food prices over all.
Many commercial beekeeping outfits have gone out of business, not only because of COVID but because of the huge drought in the Southwest.
Many farmers had to cut back on crops grown and left many fields barren, leaving pollinators without contracts. I mention this because honey bee activity produces fruit, therefore, less pollinator companies, less fruit.
Meanwhile, feral honey bees (my most preferred) are on the decline. For three consecutive years now, I have witnessed feral colony declines all across Abilene Tx.
Hives are smaller and weak, not to mention calls for bee removal is also down. What could be the cause? We’ve been in drought conditions before, why are all the native and honey bees declining in our area?
Yep, I said it. Pest control in urban areas is the main culprit. You see, most people do not know about Live bee removal, all they know is pest control.
